Ladies and gentlemen,

We are glad to announce the Board of Directors of Toastmasters International, Derek Wong, is going to give a workshop on November 10th. The workshop will be hosted by Guangzhou Elite Toastmasters club. In this workshop, Derek is going to share the lessons he learned about leadership, and how to use leadership skills to excel in a career. If you are interested in developing your leadership skills, it is a valuable experience that you can't miss!

About Derek Wong

As a member of the Toastmasters International Board of Directors, Wong is a “working ambassador” for the organization. He works with the Board to develop and support the policies and procedures that guide Toastmasters International in fulfilling its mission.

Wong is the chief financial officer for United Asia Financial (China) Group, where he has worked for nine years. He is tasked with managing $1 billion in investments in a multi-cultural corporation and is responsible for formulating and implementing strategic marketing and business expansion plans. He also focuses on maintaining the company's leading position within the industry as well as continuous growth. He is in charge of handling financial controls and compliance; liaising with banks and governmental departments; and training talent that enables the success of the corporation.

Wong holds a master’s degree in business administration from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in Hong Kong, China. He is a fellow member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) and also a fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), as well as an associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). He was also a board member of Hong Kong Friends of Scouting in 2011-2012, where he was responsible for financial strategies and social activities.

A Toastmaster since 2007, Wong is a charter member of his home club, Oasis Toastmasters, in Hong Kong. He has held a number of high-profile leadership positions within Toastmasters and attained the Distinguished Toastmaster designation—the highest level of educational achievement in the organization.

He says, “The values and benefits of the program are fundamental and applicable to the modern world, and what one learns in Toastmasters is seldom taught in school. If you follow the program carefully and apply what you learn in your daily life, it will become a powerful tool to transform you.”
